Bruce Goldsmith

Bruce Goldsmith needs little introduction in the world of free flight, having been world champion in both hang gliding and paragliding to name but a few of a long lists of accolades.

He has been designing paragliders for the last 27 years for the likes of Airwave, Ozone and Advance, and now runs his own ever growing business Bruce Goldsmith Design. Having doubled in size every year since its inception in 2012, BGD now employs 14 full and part time staff and sells to 103 countries worldwide.

I caught up with Bruce at St Hilaire to find out more about existing and future products in the BGD range.

Paragliding in Iceland

With Anita Hafdís Björnsdóttir

I learned Paragliding in 2007 on a whim, in Iceland, and have not looked back since. In 2009 I sold all my belongings other than my glider and became a travelling paragliding bum. In 2013 I finished my tandem training in South Africa, returned to Iceland, co-founded the first Paragliding company here, and am now a full time Tandem pilot and Paragliding instructor in Iceland.

Flying and photography – Rebecca Bredehoft

On my travels this winter, I was lucky enough to cross paths with Rebecca Bredehoft, an inspirational pilot as well as an awesome photographer.

At only 30 years old, Becca already has more experience than many pilots. But what makes her truly inspirational is the way she seems to enjoy every flying day as much as when she first learnt to fly and her permanent drive to learn from the sport.

I took the chance to quiz her about her long paragliding career, her travels and managed to get a few photography tips at the same time.

X-Pyr: Chrigel Maurer and Thomas Theurillat Interview

There’s still thousands of things to learn and improve!

Chrigel Maurer and Thomas Theurillat have won the X-Alps three times and entered the X-pyr for the first time in 2014. The X-pyr is an adventure race based on the X-Alps, where competitors must traverse the Pyrenees from Atlantic to the Mediterranean by walking or flying. This year the race was 440km. The CTR around the dropzone at the Empuria Brava skydiving centre meant that there was a 30km hike at the end of the race.
